Homeschool PDX works with the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) to provide weekly science classes to homeschool students throughout the school year. Topics include chemistry, physics, life science, Earth science, engineering, astronomy and introductory “discovery” classes for our youngest students.
Enrollment begins on March 15, 2018. The cost of the program is $180 for 24 classes. Additional children can be enrolled at a discounted rate of $150. Registered families also need to purchase an OMSI membership and parking pass on the first day of Fall term.
Classes will begin on Thursday, October 18th, 2018 and end on Thursday, May 2nd, 2019. Classes meet once a week for one hour.

2018-19 Class Syllabi
As soon as next year’s syllabi are confirmed, a link will be provided here for enrolled families. The proposed order of topics for each class in 2018-19 are:
- Science Scouts – Discovery, Astronomy, Physics, Earth Science, Design, Chemistry
- Little Exploders – Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy, Physics, Earth Science, Life Science

The older students alternate topics each year in order to spend more time on each subject. Next year they will focus on the topics listed above, and the following year delve into additional topics in depth, such as physics.
*Homeschool PDX Science Kids is not the same as the Oregon Homeschool Science Club, which holds classes at OMSI on Tuesdays. We offer the same selection of classes but not necessarily in the same order. Information about OHSSC classes can be found here.
